There is no known way for a sleeping PokГ©mon with Insomnia to enter battle. If the PokГ©mon with this Ability is asleep and is holding a Chesto or Lum Berry, Insomnia will cure the PokГ©mon of sleep before the Berry has a chance to be consumed. If a sleeping PokГ©mon has Insomnia as its original Ability but not its current Ability, it will remain asleep when switched out. It will be cured of sleep if it is switched in to replace a switched out PokГ©mon (including if switched in via Baton Pass). If a sleeping PokГ©mon with Insomnia is sent into battle as one of the lead PokГ©mon or to replace a fainted PokГ©mon, or gains Insomnia due to Trace, it will not be cured of sleep until after a PokГ©mon takes its turn (uses a move, switches out, etc.).

The move Worry Seed can change the target PokГ©mon's Ability to Insomnia. If a PokГ©mon with this Ability is drowsy due to Yawn, when it would fall asleep the Ability activates and keeps it awake. Rest will fail when used by the PokГ©mon.ДЄ PokГ©mon with this Ability will wake up if it is asleep in battle (such as if it gains the Ability outside of battle or by an effect like Skill Swap, or is put to sleep by a PokГ©mon with an Ability like Mold Breaker).
